Adopting

Scroll down for information on adopting dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, and barn cats.

Great adoptions begin with great conversations. As a potential adopter, our adoption coordinator will discuss your past experiences with pets, your lifestyle, activities you might want to do with your new pet, and the pet’s housing situation. And, of course, we will answer your questions. To make the best match possible, we request that you bring all family members to meet the new companion and bring your current dog(s) to meet a new dog. Adopters must be at least 21 years old. Of course, we give you “alone” time with the pet you are considering. Please note that Wild Rivers Animal Rescue reserves the right to deny adoptions. Our priorities are the health, safety, and future well-being of the animals in our care and the health, safety, and expectations of people hoping to find an animal companion.

We are open daily from 10:00-4:00. We ask potential adopters to arrive at least an hour before closing to compete an adoption.

Adoption fee: $65 / per pair

We often have healthy, sterilized cats in need of new outdoor homes. These cats are semi-wild and need to live at a farm, horse stable, warehouse, plant nursery, or other suitable outdoor location; they will not do well in domestic environments.

Veterinarian care has been given (negative test for feline leukemia, sterilized, rabies shot, distemper shot, and exam).

Adopters are responsible for providing daily food/water, protection from the elements, and long-term vet care. Support for integrating barn cats into your environment is provided. Barn cats are adopted in groups of 2 or more only.
